Location information for Phuket Airport

Phuket is truly an ultimate destination for the tourist who wants to go on a peaceful holiday on its white sand beaches and Thai massage spas, but it also has its share of vibrant activity for those who want to take part in cultural and gastronomic festivals.

Phuket, being on one of the southern islands of Thailand, is reachable by landing at the country's second biggest airport, the Phuket International Airport. It serves domestic destinations as well as international flights to neighbouring countries in Asia like Singapore, Malaysia, and Korea, not to mention some nonstop flights to Munich, Germany.

Phuket International Airport is also known by its IATA code of HKT and ICAO code VTSP. It has two terminals, with the first terminal used for international arrivals and departures and the second terminal for local flights. The following airlines serve at the airport: Air Berlin, Condor Airlines, and Blue Panorama Airlines.

The airport has a modest number of facilities aimed at tourist convenience. There are duty-free shops and restaurants, as well as currency exchange desks at both arrivals and departures areas. There are also baggage conveyors, medical services and car rental desks at the airport.

The safest and cheapest way to get around on the island is through car hire at Phuket Airport. Public transportation in the form of tuk tuks or minivans and motorcycle taxis have outrageously expensive fares. Also, they are not prevalent in some areas of the island. Cheap car hire at Phuket Airport is most recommended.
