Location information for Corsica

The Mediterranean island of Corsica is a region of France. It is a beautifully rugged destination oozing with charm and French fashion. Given the abundant beautiful beaches, lush foliage and stunning coastline, it comes as no surprise that visitors favour touring by cheap Corsica car rental.

The resorts are the centrepiece of Corsica's tourism industry, and all of the island's major sites are within easy reach by cheap hire car in Corsica. Away from the five-star pampering, Corsica's natural landscape is the star attraction, exemplified by Les Calanques de Piana. This bizarre landscape of fluted cliffs and colourful minarets has been sculpted by eons of wind and water.

Filitosa is another key landmark, in this case a holdover from Neolithic times. Some of the onsite statues date to the 7th century BC. Not nearly as old but still striking is Bonifacio and its citadel. It enjoys a high vantage point with exceptional views over the island's limestone cliffs as well as the Mediterranean.

Outdoor sports are well catered for, especially resort style pursuits like golf and tennis. Cycling, hiking and rock climbing are popular along the coastline, in the Nicolo Region and in the Parc Naturel. Skiing is even possible at high interior elevations during the winter.

Ajaccio is the capital city and one of the main ports of entry (although there are four airports on Corsica). Car ferries from France and Italy regularly connect, making it especially convenient to hire a car on the European mainland and then use it in Corsica. The summer months (especially May, June and September) are the most comfortable times to visit.
