Atocha is a zone in Madrid that extends from the Hueartas and the Lavapies areas on either side. The area overflows with museums and landmarks that are sure delights especially for those with expansive interests. The area can be reached through its railway station, aptly named Atocha railway station, which is in itself a sight to see. Atocha prides its self with great art galleries in every corner. The Reina Sofia Museum or Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Spanish stands just across the Atocha Rail Station. Most famous is Guernica by Picasso which portrays the terror brought about by the Spanish Civil War to the Basque town of Guernica. Other olden artists that are featured in the museum are Miro and Juan Gris. You may delight yourself with a quick meal from Sergi Ariola's (a famous Spanish Chef) restaurant located in the building. Arola Madrud is another restaurant which is inspired by traditional Mediterranean influence.

Maneuver your car hire to Paseo del Prado where the Prado Museum, yet another must see, is located. This most visited museum holds hundreds or even thousands of classic European art which date from the 12th to 19th centuries. The main attraction of the site would be the works of Goya and Velasquez while other collections from Rubens, Botticelli, Rembrandt and Raphael are exhibited.
