Hannover Airport, or HAJ for short, is nicknamed Langenhagen Airport as it is a very short drive from the small city of Langenhagen. It replaced a very basic wartime airfield that was right in the city. In 1973 two contemporary and efficient terminals were built. They became renowned in the industry for their smart design. Cheap car hire at Hannover Airport (HAJ) is available at several locations in the multiple terminals.

In 1998, Terminal C was made to help manage congestion. The new terminal includes eight new fully functional gates. HAJ can handle 33 aircraft around its tarmac at any given time and 20 aircraft can receive aircraft stands and jetways. All terminals are able to receive large planes like Boeing 747s. Terminal D was rebuilt for the British Royal Air Force. Military flights operate from this terminal.

In 2000, the S-Bahn was built to shuttle passengers between the airport and the city of Hamelin, using Hannover Central Station. Trains depart precisely every 30 minutes.  What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
